In addition to teaching at 91̽��\, currently as 8th Grade Teacher\, Vernon also serves as a founding member and co-chair of the school 91̽�� ’s Diversity Committee. \nAbout Magally Luna\nNearly 20 years\, Magally joined the DWS community to teach Spanish. Today\, she serves in the elementary school as our 4th grade teacher. “I bring a diverse curriculum to my class of cuties\,” she says. She has been on the school 91̽�� ’s D&I Committee since its inception\, starting with conversations with Laurie Clark in the Morning Glory classroom. She is the founder and co-chair of AWSNA’S BIPOC affinity group\, — supporting Waldorf teachers of color throughout the nation — and she has taught BIPOC stories\, songs\, and movement from the Americas at several national conferences. \nAbout Mahdyeh Nowkhandan\nMahdyeh Nowkhandan is a new DWS parent and member of the D&I Committee\, and has recently become one of the leads on the new Denver Waldorf Racial Justice Parent Group. She has a background in advocacy work and racial justice\, as well as elementary education — including social-emotional and special education. She is a recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award\, and still she views herself as a life-long learner\, non-expert\, and an always growing member of the BIPOC community. \nAbout The Bridge\nThe Bridge is a bimonthly webinar series hosted by 91̽�� on the benefits of Waldorf education. Ryan is also queer and nonbinary\, and has been a queer activist for about a decade\, offering basic training for others about how to work with the LGBTQ+ population. The Board of Trustees\, College Leadership Council\, Faculty\, Administration and parents work together to raise funds\, volunteer\, and make challenging budgetary decisions to keep tuition within the financial means of the largest possible group. We seek to establish financial relationships that are healthy for the school and the families within our community. \nAbout Tuition Adjustment\nAt DWS\, we recognize that many families want the inspired learning environment that an independent Waldorf education provides\, and that this type of education requires a significant financial commitment. Therefore\, DWS budgets a significant portion of income to our Tuition Adjustment Program\, but the budgeted funds are limited. All families who wish to provide Waldorf education for their child(ren) are encouraged to seek the means to make this education a viable option. \nDWS expects families to exercise their best creative efforts to use their own financial resources before turning to the Tuition Adjustment Program. It is not uncommon for a DWS family to pay 15 to 20% or more of their income for tuition. This percentage applies to both full and reduced tuition families. Please scroll down to register and reserve a seat. \nWhat You’ll Learn\nDuring the workshop\, Laurie and Brooke will cover: \n\nTuition adjustment (TA) process (applications\, review\, and deadlines)\nScholarships\n\n91̽�� is committed to economic diversity. The Board of Trustees\, College Leadership Council\, Faculty\, Administration and parents work together to raise funds\, volunteer\, and make challenging budgetary decisions to keep tuition within the financial means of the largest possible group. We seek to establish financial relationships that are healthy for the school and the families within our community. \nAbout Tuition Adjustment\nAt DWS\, we recognize that many families want the inspired learning environment that an independent Waldorf education provides\, and that this type of education requires a significant financial commitment. Therefore\, DWS budgets a significant portion of income to our Tuition Adjustment Program\, but the budgeted funds are limited. All families who wish to provide Waldorf education for their child(ren) are encouraged to seek the means to make this education a viable option. \nDWS expects families to exercise their best creative efforts to use their own financial resources before turning to the Tuition Adjustment Program. It is not uncommon for a DWS family to pay 15 to 20% or more of their income for tuition. This percentage applies to both full and reduced tuition families. Tuition Adjustment is not based on willingness to pay\, but on one 91̽�� ’s ability to pay.
