Golden Gate Park

We bet that a lot of baby boomer think of little else except the Summer of Love when they hear about Golden Gate Park, but there really is so much more; and to visit San Francisco without visiting this park is as close to a travesty as we can imagine. The 1000-plus acre park is one of the “most visited” city parks in the country (an estimated 13 million annual visitors), and it’s easy to see why within moments upon visiting it is home to a wide array of wildlife right smack in the center of San Francisco. Moose, caribou, and antelope have been seen galloping through the abundant flora and thick redwoods. And if you hunger for a taste of wildlife but aren’t around for a glimpse of the mentioned antelope, you might want to head over to the Buffalo Paddock which, thanks to its contribution, has helped the total number of bison in North America exceed the 200,000 mark a major accomplishment considering the species once-doomed fate.A favorite pastime on any given day is to find a hub of activity of park patrons walking, biking, hiking, or just sitting in one of the park’s great open spaces in the sun or under a shade tree accessing their clearwirelessinternet.com away from the office and just “being” with everything that northern California nature has to offer. And in this case it’s fragrant Blue Gum Eucalyptus, Monterey Pines, Redwoods and more. The park is still home to live music (much as it was a symbol of the 60′s thanks in large part to the Grateful Dead) with offerings several times a week some free and some by major headliners like the Dave Matthews Band. This vast playground of stunning beauty is easy enough to find when visiting San Francisco, but if you’re staying in the city you will need a car or other transportation to access it, but it’s well worth the trip especially when factoring in the entrance fee it’s free!
