The theater district in San Francisco is a lot like the city itself - it offers plenty of variety within a small area. There are lots of theaters compactly  located within walking distance of Union Square, an area known for its upscale stores and fancy hotels. In fact, most of the theaters can be found on just one block of Geary Street, west of Union Square.
